Wow, six is pretty young. That must have been overwhelming. I commend you on not outing Santa to your brothers or sisters (or at the very least me).
I think I was 8 or 9 when I found out/realized that Santa was ‘MAGIC’. Can’t really say if it was a specific event that occured. I don’t really remember being overly upset either.
After many years of living alone and not really getting into “the spirit”, as it were. I find I am capturing it again – for Everett. I love it. The warm colors of the season, the smells and the sounds (mom’s french and german christmas songs) are like a warm blanket. It’s exciting.

I can remember going to the Telinde’s for Thanksgiving – over the back fence and up their hill. What a feast. I suppose I don’t branch out much – I still like the traditional fare that mom made. But, I am always up for something new.
